Course Description

To provide the participant with the knowledge to identify Asbestos types, health hazards, legal requirements and applications.

 

The purpose of this training is to provide participants with the general knowledge and skills to be able to identify and have an awareness of asbestos within the workplace

Course Content

This course contains the following learning content:

  • WHS requirements and hazards control (Part CTA BCG 3001A)
  • Properties of Asbestos
  • Identifying Asbestos types and common uses of asbestos
  • Knowing health effects of exposure relating the use and handling of asbestos materials
  • Identifying when a license is required when removing asbestos
  • WHS requirements and hazards control (Part CTA BCG 3001A)

 

Course Requirements

Materials -

  • Pens/pencils
  • Photo ID

Clothing –

  • Wear normal work clothes including
    • Covered footwear (steel capped boots preferred)
    • Long sleeve shirt
    • Long pants or overalls

Course Outcomes

On completion of this course, the participant will be able to competently:

  • Identify asbestos containing materials
  • Identify when a licence is required when removing asbestos
  • Identify the health related hazards of Asbestos

 

A Statement of Completion will be issued to the participant after successful completion
